What is Grace Multiplied?

Grace Multiplied My Grace is Sufficient for You MRSdesigns.net-2.jpg

The title of the new sermon series at the church I attend is Grace Multiplied. What comes to mind first when you hear this? For me, math class...my mind pictures a literal X. I know, right?

Anyway, as I let my heart ponder even just the title and get my mind around what God has for me during this series, I break it down. I'm a bit of a word nerd in many senses. Whether you are or not, maybe you'll join me on this little journey for a bit, eh? Here's a little of my process.

What is Grace Multiplied?

Let's examine this title a bit more before we move on the points made during the sermon.
*Multiply means to make many (varied, numerous kinds); increase by number, quantity, etc. Here is a list of synonyms for the word multiply.

  1. accumulate

  2. boost

  3. expand

  4. magnify

  5. repeat

So you could say Grace Accumulated, Grace Boosted, Grace Expanded, Grace Magnified, Grace Repeated....hmmm see how things become clearer?

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV

Okay let's dig into the word *grace. It means the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God; the influence or spirit of God operating in humans to regenerate or strengthen them; a virtue or excellence of divine origin.
Some synonyms.

  1. favor

  2. mercy

  3. compassion

  4. forgiveness

So you could say Mercy Multiplied, Compassion Multiplied, Forgiveness Multiplied, Favor Multiplied...again you get the idea.

The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. Jeremiah 31:3 ESV

How about Forgiveness Repeated?

*(all definitions and synonyms came from dictionary.com)

For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:14 ESV

Jesus is actively pursuing YOU!

With that, the thing that stood out to me and that I doodled (in my world this means meditate) most since Sunday is this - "He is actively pursuing you." Do you know this? Really know it?

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace. Romans 11:6

Life is imperfect. People and families are imperfect. Relationships with humans is just plain hard. But, did you know the Perfect One is pursuing You? Think about this. Grace Multiplied is chasing You!!!!! Stop and turn around and run...yes, run into His arms! I'm telling you, if we can get this relationship right...well let's just say, the others will be a bit easier even in their difficult and seemingly impossible moments, because we'll be focused right where we should be.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 ESV

Let me leave you with a couple of songs.

Reckless Love

Reckless Love is my favorite song right now. The **live version (below) is longer, but if you stay with it there's a message in the middle worth your time. It will bless you, if you let it.

King of My Heart

King of My Heart is a   **live version too. This one has been around a bit longer, but good stuff.

**Note  - These live versions are long...you may want to skip to the lyrics... I've linked the videos below. If you're up for it, listen to the lyrics...let God speak to your heart.  Click here and here to skip to the lyrics.

Enjoy, my friend, and please know that you are so very loved. I'd love to hear what you think about these two songs and if there are others you'd share...let me know in the comment section below.
