Four Truths You Can Believe About Jesus
What do you believe about Jesus? The Bible is filled front to back with miracles. Every day that we wake up, is a miracle. All around us is everything He created – more miracles. If you are a child of God, that too is a miracle. Miracles aren’t just for Bible stories. Jesus is the same today as He was then. That’s easy enough to say, but do we really believe it?
Are you willing to do a little exercise with me? It’ll be fun. Or at the very least, eye opening. Grab a piece of paper and something to write with. Open your trusty phone’s timer or use an egg timer and set it for 30 seconds. Write without pausing everything that you believe about Jesus. Don’t stop to think just write. Go…..
Here’s what I wrote down in my 30 seconds.
He’s my Savior.
He’s my Redeemer.
He died for me.
He has a plan for me.
I’m his child.
He adopted me.
He loves me.
Let your list be a spring board for digging in and really searching your heart to see if you truly believe these things. Sometimes it’s very easy for us to verbalize our beliefs, but is it as easy to put them into practice?
Chris shared a story in Sunday School about trusting and believing that went something like this… A man with a wheel barrel asked another, “do you think I can walk across this tight rope with this wheel barrel?” The other man says, “I sure do.” The man with the wheel barrel says, “okay, get in!”
Are you the one who says you believe before you’re invited into the wheel barrel or are you the one who would actually get into the wheel barrel?
Truth number one you can believe about Jesus.
When you imagine how big He is…He’s bigger than that.
Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power, Your right hand, O LORD, shatters the enemy. Exodus 15:6
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. Ephesians 3:20
Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28
Truth number two you can believe about Jesus.
Trust that He knows about your situation and that He will take care of it.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. ... John 1:1
Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. ...Psalm 147
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. ... Psalm 139
The following jumped off the page at me in Sunday School.
Part of trusting in God means we believe he knows what is best for His children. God knows everything. Thankfully, His knowledge is not limited to our actions and thoughts. He also knows our intentions; He understands why we act the way we do, and He cares about us anyway. – The Gospel Project, Volume 8 p. 122
Truth number three you can believe about Jesus.
Allow His Word to invade your life. Let the Bible's truths become who are.
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
And how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:15-17
But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4
Truth number four you can believe about Jesus.
He knows how to answer and always give the right answer.
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.. 1 John 5:14-15
He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them. Psalm 145:19
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
My prayer for you today, my friend, is that you will believe like you've never believed before and your faith will grow beyond your wildest imagination. And every time you think about how BIG our God is...you realize He's BIGGER than that! Let's get in the wheel barrel, it'll be fun!
